The Miele Guide Website Launched

15th April 2008 in News, Online, 1 comment  Share This

After half a month of development we have finally launched the first phase of The Miele Guide, which I played the role of its designer. Big thanks to Adrianna, Aun and Pauline of Ate Media who worked with us tirelessly to get everything in order, and Uzyn the PHP and MySQL Wizard who took time to learn jQuery and worked hard for the project even though he was in Taiwan for a romantic break. I am happy to see the launch of phase 1 which marks the beginning of an exciting project and I look forward to the next phase.

For those who are not familiar with Miele and The Miele Guide, here’s a short introduction.

The Miele Guide Website Phase 1

Quoted from the website: “The Miele Guide will be Asia’s first truly independent regional restaurant guide when launched in October 2008, and also its most authoritative—we do not accept free meals or advertising from restaurants. Written by food lovers who know and love Asia, The Miele Guide will rank and profile restaurants across the region’s major cities, categorized by country, city and cuisine, in a slim, indispensable volume.”

This basically means The Miele Guide is a printed volume that will showcase the region’s finest wine and dining with rankings determined by manner of member voting and judging by respected food professionals. The website will be used for voting and judging and also serves to educate the public what The Miele Guide is all about.

Miele, the main sponsor for The Miele Guide, is a German manufacturer of premium domestic appliances and machines for commercial applications. Since its inception in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann, Miele has been a family-owned, family-run company under the ownership of the two families. Today, the company is being run by the fourth generations of the respective families, based in Gütersloh, Germany.

More information on The Miele Guide can be found on its website at http://mieleguide.com/.

Be sure to sign up for the mailing list if you wish to cast your votes if you are a foodie and when voting opens.

Nice site, kind of reminds me of http://www.themarketingstudent.com because of the ‘M’ in the favicon, and the menu with a little box around.

But infinitely more elegant and clean of course.
