AEN DIRECT v2 in the works

1st April 2007 in News, 1 comment  Share This

After the development of a couple of sites such as Beverly.sg on WordPress, I now have a even better understanding of the system. While doing research for Beverly.sg, I have picked up quite a lot of new skills and knowledge and this has led me to the decision of developing the next version for AEN DIRECT.

The current version of AEN DIRECT was first based on WordPress 2.0.5 after the switch from Qgeis.com which was based on WordPress 1.5. The template structure and theme layout is not completely optimized. The next AEN DIRECT will be based on WordPress 2.1.2, the most current release and will feature the following features.

  1. Client Login
    • Secure section for clients and prospects to view non-public works
  2. Portfolio Display
    • More organized and detailed information of my work
  3. UI and Navigation
    • Clearer amd easier to find stuff
    • Re-arrangement of layout
    • Better implementation of tagsonomy
    • More effective and less obtrusive ad placement
    • Advanced Search
  4. Contact Page
    • Finally a contact page
    • Shoutbox / Messagebox + Email Notification for quick contact
    • Ajax Mailer Form

As you can see, the majority of these changes are improvements in usability and for potential clients to easily look through my work. This is one of the areas I received the most feedback for. Of course! these improvements will also benefit my readers as well, you guys are my motivation in writing and sharing my thoughts.

I hope to implement even more improvments in the next release than what I have listed above so here’s your chance to give me your suggestions. If you have ideas on how this site can be improved, feel free to post them using the comment form. What do you think should be removed, what should stay, what’s good and what’s not, I would like to hear from you.

By the way, this is not an April Fool’s joke!
