AEN DIRECT and Qgeis merged

16th November 2006 in News, 1 comment  Share This

For the past I have been working on the merge of my 2 websites into 1. Qgeis (qgeis.com), my personal blog on design will merge with AEN DIRECT (aendirect.com) my portfolio and business site. In fact the process is almost complete, with minor glitches to be ironed out.

The merge is a move to simplify the management of the 2 websites. Administering 1 site is definitely easier and more effective than 2 as I can focus my efforts and attention. All my focus will now be on AEN DIRECT, the merged site.

For the new site, I decided make it a catalogue of my creative works and, writings with a blog. The blogging tool of my choice is WordPress. It’s simple, easy to set up and I can post and manage content as I like. By using WordPress as a CMS, I could have search engine-friendly pages which is actually something I shouldn’t be without and definitely not achievable with a Flash site. I believe running the site on WordPress is a wise choice.

I’m using WordPress version 2.05 at the time of installation. The theme is custom coded and the plugins I’m using includes:

Most of them are really great plugins and I can’t imagine a WordPress site without them.

I won’t be running any ads on this site as I would rather keep the design and layout clean without any distraction from ads. I have also ditched sIFR headings because it’s just too troublesome to tune the fonts and CSS just to make it show right. I rather spend my time more meaningfully.
That’s about it for this post. I gotta get some sleep. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to exchange links.
