How Was Your Christmas Eve?

Vivi and I could not decide where we want to go. Singapore is so boring and dull. In the end we decided to get some nice food and shoot some photos at Orchard Road’s hustle and bustle.

Our favorite is Japanese and Takashimaya S.C. has a few good Japanese restaurants. After going over menus of some of them, almost succumbing to the temptation of a S$200 Sashimi Moriawase set and laughing at Tonkichi’s pork laden menu, we ended up at Sushi Tei. We requested for a table and thus waited for nearly half an hour during which our stomach acids did their eating, of our stomachs. Our turn finally came and we did not hesitate to order our favorites. Here are some of the stuff we ordered.

Sukiyaki
Steamboat-styled beef. The soup was great especially when it’s full of vegetables, onions, Enoki mushroms and eggs.

Tamago Nigiri Sushi
Nothing beats the fluffiness of Tamago egg layers. I’ll be getting a Tamago pan for my next MUJI visit so I can some them myself.

Maguro Zukushi
Sashimi of 3 kinds of fish, Maguro (Tuna), Mekajiki (Sword Fish) and the best part, Otoro (Fatty Tuna Belly).

Aburi Mekajiki Nigiri Sushi
Half flame-grilled Mekjiki, Taste great but not as good as the Maguro version.

Gouka Kaisen Ramen
It roughly means Grand/Splendid (Gouka) Seafood (Kaisen) Noodles (Ramen). The soup is deliciously white and toppings include lobster, scallops, mussels and cabbage. Marvelous!

After the scrumptious dinner we wondered around and got ourselves caught in the insane human traffic outside Takashimaya and Wisma Atria. After at least 10 minutes and pushing and inching, we managed to get to Wisma and decided to get some Starbucks, which was fully packed. I suggested going home as neither of us are enjoying the heat and crowd. Before we left, I brought Vivi to Soo Kee Jewellery and got a her small diamond ring. It’s not a proposal, just a daily-wear ring. Haha! It was a Brilliant Rose cut with “VS” clarity, “F” color, at 0.09 carat. The customer relations exec who served us is Cindy and she’s really nice and patient. I asked her to show me all ring designs of a price range and she gladly fulfilled my request. I don’t have a picture yet as the ring is being sent for resizing to fit Vivi perfectly.
